Impel at Connect

August 29, 2019
The teams at both Impel Wealth Management and our partners at Horizon Financial Group participated in a meaningful way at Cetera Financial Group's recent Connect Conference in Denver, Colorado. Connect is the annual education conference for Cetera's five broker dealers, and nearly 4,000 financial advisors and team members took the opportunity to attend.

The week started early for Peter Bush, CFP, and myself, as we were able to take part in leadership meetings with Cetera's Advisor Engagement Counsel. The meetings lasted most of Monday. We had the opportunity to meet with the senior leadership of the broker-dealer, participate in our separate enterprise action committees, and help make recommendations back to the leadership and the board for future initiatives to serve the advisors, and in turn, help them better serve their clients.

As we got into the meat of the meetings Tuesday, we were blessed to have some amazing keynote speakers, as well as some very targeted educational breakout sessions that we were able to participate in. This included sessions on economic and investment management issues, utilizing new technology tools and cyber security.

Our Associate Financial Advisor, Nathan Ollish, CFP, AIF, was able to participate in the next gen breakout session. Nearly 200 advisers under the age of 40 were able to network and share ideas. Rachel Hurst serves on the Caring Cetera committee and was able to be on stage to help present a $200,000 check to Youth on Record, a local charity that helps at risk youth, as part of our broker dealers commitment to leave a charitable footprint in each community that hosts our conference events.

The week ended on Thursday morning with Cetera Advisor's firm specific meetings and compliance sessions. Pete Bush and I were asked to be two of the four advisors to join Brett Harrison, our CEO, on stage to talk about how things are going with the leadership and future initiatives of the broker dealer and the impact it will have on the practices of the advisors of Cetera.

It was a long, but satisfying, four days in Denver. We were involved and engaged from early morning until late evening each day. The team at Impel Wealth Management would like to thank the marketing and events team at Cetera, specifically Michael Zuna, our Chief Marketing Officer, and Cheryl Trinidad, who oversees advisor experiences and conferences, for their help in putting together such an incredible atmosphere and learning experience. We look forward to continuing to participate. These events are critical to our continuing to be good stewards of our clients' financial well-being, and our commitment to being students of the business. We share this with you, our friends and clients, to make you aware of our commitment in "Moving Life Forward" for all of us.
