Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you’re a client or someone who’s considering Impel Wealth Management as a resource, below are some common questions we receive. We add more questions regularly, so check back often.
Becoming an Impel Wealth Management Client
Q: What is the first step in becoming an Impel Wealth Management client?
A: Call our office at 330.800.0182, and we will set up time to talk with you. Choosing a financial planner is an important and personal decision. We want to make sure we’re the right fit for you. During that first meeting, we’ll learn about where you want to go and what you’re looking for in a wealth management firm. We’ll share our approach and process.
Q: What makes Impel Wealth Management different from other firms?
A: Our clients say that it is our team’s knowledge, our ability to talk about financial and life matters frankly and understandably, the depth of relationship we build with our clients, and our responsiveness. We invite you to read our blogs and watch our videos to gain a better understanding of our approach and strengths.
Q: I am a physician and heard that Impel Wealth Management works with medical providers to create financial plans. Why should I work with your team?
A: Doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, therapists and other providers have unique financial situations due to heavy student loans, employed vs. self-employed statuses, high earning potentials and ever-changing health care landscapes. Nathan Ollish, CFP®, has gained extensive experience with people in these professions. He asks the right questions and identifies the potential paths that may lead you to the lifestyle you seek. Set up an appointment with Nathan as a first step.
Questions about My Investment Plan
Q: How do you integrate tax planning into investment strategy?
A: Tax planning is built into every recommendation we make. We look for opportunities to improve after-tax returns, like tax-efficient investment placement, strategic withdrawals, and proactive planning around gain, so more of what you earn stays working for you.
Q: How often do you review and update all aspects of my plan?
A: At a minimum, we review your plan every six months. We also make updates as needed when your life, goals, or the market changes, so your strategy stays aligned and up to date.
Q: How do you help ensure financial decisions support my broader life goals?
A: We start by understanding what matters most to you, then align every financial decision with those priorities. By connecting your plan to your goals, we help ensure your money is working toward the life you want—not just sitting in separate strategies.
Questions from Clients
Q: I need to move some funds around. Do I have to wait to talk to my Impel financial advisor to do that?
A: No. Call our office at 330.800.0182 and our team can respond to your questions and most likely manage transactions for you.
Q: I left a message with some changes I want to make. Why can’t those be handled without a phone call or more paperwork?
A: Because we care about the security of your accounts. We follow all requirements for financial transactions and with technology that can now mimic your voice, we must validate your identity, document your desired changes, and secure confirmation from you before we proceed. We’ll keep the process as painless as possible … we promise. 🙂
Q: Is Impel Wealth Management a “fiduciary?” What does that mean?
A: Yes! Our firm is a fiduciary, which means we are legally and ethically obligated to act in the best interests of our clients. We must prioritize our clients' needs above our own and disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
Fiduciary vs. Non-Fiduciary Advisors:
- Fiduciary Advisors: Legally and ethically bound to act in the client's best interest.
- Non-Fiduciary Advisors: May only need to recommend suitable investments, not necessarily the best ones for the client.
Not all Certified Financial Planners (CFP®s) are fiduciary advisors; all Impel Wealth Management advisors are fiduciaries.
