"I've Been Everywhere" is a song written by Australian country singer Geoff Mack in 1959 and popularized by Lucky Starr. A version of the song with different lyrics was recorded by Hank Snow in 1962. The song's lyrics comprise mainly the names (toponyms) of various towns visited by the singer. The song has been covered by dozens of artists through the years. One of the most famous versions was done by Johnny Cash and adopted by the US postal service for a recent ad campaign. A YouTube link to the song with all its lyrics and towns is included below.

J-O-H-N-N-Y C-A-S-H - I've Been Everywhere - With Lyrics
I have not been everywhere, but sometimes, it feels that way based on the number of times I am on and off airplanes. To bring you up to speed with a few of the recent places I have been, I am including some pictures and details about recent conferences and speaking engagements I have participated in.
We will begin with a place I was virtually. Earlier this year, Todd Cline, CFP, Senior Business Consultant at Cetera Financial Group, approached me about sharing the strategies the CFPs of Impel Wealth Management use to drive business growth through new referrals. Todd’s group specializes in empowering growth-oriented investment advisors to overcome complex business challenges, gain strategic clarity, and drive substantial growth. As a result, Todd and I were able to share these ideas with other Cetera advisors on the afternoon of Monday, September 23rd.

A couple of weeks later, I had the opportunity to participate as a speaker on the Next Generation Ensemble panel at the Horizon Advisor Network Wealth Wisdom Exchange conference in New Orleans in early October! It was great sharing the stage with my friends Dusty Green from Spencer Financial in Kansas City and Robert Burke from Horizon Wealth Management in Baton Rouge. The managing partner and my good friend Peter J. Bush, CFP, facilitated our discussion about integrating next-generation talent into your firm. A couple of pictures and a video from LinkedIn from the event are shared below. (We had several people note that Robert, who is still in his 20s, is the only one in the group who still has hair?!)

Horizon Advisor Network Wealth Wisdom Exchange - Highlight Reel
The following week, I found myself in Las Vegas, this time accompanied by my beautiful bride, Rachel. I attended the Forbes Top Wealth Advisor conference, as I had been named to the Forbes/SHOOK Research list of Top Wealth Advisors in Ohio for the 6th time. Nearly 1000 financial advisors from across the country and all types of wealth management firms attended. There was great peer-to-peer sharing and an action-packed agenda of some of the top speakers in our industry. While there, I got to participate in a small group, invitation-only session with Rick Rieder, Managing Director, and BlackRock's Global Chief Investment Officer of Fixed Income, Head of the Global Allocation Team. I have seen Rick present many times in person and on CNBC. He is truly one of the most intelligent people I have ever been in a room with and a great thought leader for our industry.

The advisors in the room also generously donated nearly $1.5 million to help battle pediatric cancer. I was not aware of this, but only 4% of the money raised for Cancer Research goes to help children. It is a humbling and amazing opportunity to help families struggling through these health challenges. Hopefully, one day, thanks to advances in medical technology, pediatric and other cancers will largely be a thing of the past.

After that whirlwind of activity, Rachel and I spent some time in Sedona, Arizona, where we enjoyed hiking and beautiful blue skies. Shane and Hunter joined us for a few days. It is always great to spend some time connecting with our kids, who are spread across the country.

Multiple destinations, planes, trains, and automobiles in just a few short weeks certainly made me a kindred spirit with Johnny Cash. While I was not technically “Everywhere, Man,” it sometimes felt like it. Rachel and I will primarily be home through the holiday season, which we always enjoy. Travel and new destinations will ramp back up toward the end of January 2025.
Thanks for letting me share some of how I have been trying to do my part to grow and advance Impel Wealth Management and our industry. I feel this is an integral part of our mission as we continue “Moving Life Forward.”
