After speaking at a conference in Denver in January 2020 and attending the Forbes/SHOOK Top Wealth Advisor conference in Las Vegas in February 2020, the routine of business life and travels came to an abrupt halt just a few weeks later, as the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak changed life for everyone.
I’m thrilled to share with you that after 18 long months of virtual-only events, I will speak at my first in-person event this month.
I get asked to speak often – virtually and in-person – on a variety of topics. Why do I tell you about these events? Two reasons: 1) I want you to be confident that the team you trust to help manage your financial resources is well respected in the local and national wealth-management communities.
Secondly, I want you to know that I truly believe in an abundance mentality. I believe that we are uniquely positioned to have not only the opportunity, but the obligation, to give back to our industry and to others. I believe in sharing our history and experience, and the wisdom that comes from both, with the broader community. I trust that doing so will create a rising tide of professional development that will truly lift all ships, as well as the profile of our industry on an ongoing basis. It is part of what motivates us as we continue “Moving Life Forward.”
So here are a few updates on some upcoming and recent speaking events in which I will or have participated.
This month in Denver, I will share with a group of top peers, along with Brad Stewart, an advisor from Indiana, on how to successfully structure and operate an investment committee.
Gene Goldman, the chief investment officer of Cetera Financial Group, and I also recently had the opportunity to do a national webinar for the representatives of two different Cetera Broker/Dealers, representing more than 1,800 financial advisors across the country. Our topic was utilizing investment tools and research resources that Gene and his team create. We wanted to help advisors within our network better understand the tools that are available to them and how they can use them to help their clients going forward.
I was also recently featured in two “Ask the Expert” pieces with the online financial resource moneygeek.com. Links to the two pieces, 'How to Start Saving and Investing' and 'Should I Pay Off My Mortgage or Invest the Money?' are included below.

I will also be a speaker at the national Cetera Connect conference. This will be held in a virtual platform again this year. Over 8,000 financial advisors and their support staff will have the opportunity to attend the sessions over the last two weeks of September.
Finally (for the moment) I will be emceeing Akron Community Foundation’s Professional Advisory Council’s continuing education program the first week of November. The topic will be the “Biden Tax Plan…Now what?” We will be discussing what this could mean to the financial markets and to our clients. We will be sharing information with a select group of CPA’s, Estate and Tax Planning Attorneys and Financial Advisors from the Northeast Ohio area.
I hope I will and have done you proud as your Certified Financial Planner.
