On Presidents Day, our team at Impel Wealth Management stepped away from our daily routines and gathered for a meaningful leadership retreat focused on collaboration, reflection, and forward-thinking growth. We were led by Molly Breazeale, a business coach, who flew into snowy Ohio to help us.

We began the day by having a fun competitive activity. Dividing into two teams, we competed to complete a puzzle, an exercise that quickly revealed our different working styles in action. The activity reinforced the importance of communication, strategy, and playing to individual strengths, all while sharing plenty of laughs.
The heart of our day centered around defining qualitative goals for the future of our firm. In an industry that is constantly evolving, we recognize the importance of staying on the leading edge of change. With political and economic trends changing, technology evolving, and regulations shifting, client needs are growing more complex. To continue serving families well, we must remain committed to education (both for ourselves and for the clients who rely on our guidance).

Using the Kolbe Index as a framework, we participated in breakout sessions that highlighted how each team member instinctively approaches problem-solving and workflow. These discussions sparked valuable insights into how we can better leverage one another’s strengths. Understanding our natural modes of operation allows us to collaborate more effectively and build systems that support both innovation and efficiency.
We also took time to reflect on the history of Impel as we approach our nine-year anniversary. Reviewing where we started and how far we’ve come was both grounding and inspiring. Growth has never just been about number, it has been about people.

We enjoyed getting to know our two newest team members, Rachel Van Domelen and Jared DeLiberato, Wealth Operations Associate, on a deeper level, and we are happy to announce Nisse Ferguson’s recent promotion to Administrative Coordinator. As Karen prepares for her well-earned retirement in May, we are grateful for her contributions and the foundation she helped build.

This retreat reminded us that strong teams do not happen by accident. They are built intentionally, with clarity, collaboration, and a shared commitment to excellence. It is our intention to adapt in this changing world and guide our clients into the future with confidence and purpose.
