Throughout my career I have helped many women save for retirement. I help them understand that retirement isn't just an ending; it's a vibrant new beginning—a chance to design your next chapter with intention.
Among U.S. women age 65 and older, about 49% are unmarried (i.e. single, widowed, divorced or never married-according to Retirement Living). For many women, this pivot from a career-focused life to one of personal fulfillment requires thoughtful strategy, especially given the prospect of two or more decades of active retirement.
Beyond just saving, it's about crafting a strategy that addresses key aspects of this life transition:
Reinventing Your Identity, Staying Engaged and Active
After years in a career, retirement could bring a shift in identity. This is an opportunity to explore new passions, embrace hobbies, or even pursue part-time work or volunteering that offers income and social interaction, helping you establish a new "you" independent of your past profession.

Whether you’re a grandmother, mother, daughter, sister, or aunt, retirement often brings the joy of helping others and spending more time with the people you love most. However, many miss the challenge and camaraderie of the workforce. Staying mentally and socially active is crucial for a fulfilling retirement.
Addressing Your Finances Comprehensively
This phase calls for a thorough review of your estate strategy, taking the time to put all necessary documents in order and establishing contingency plans for unexpected events. Working with a Certified Financial Planner both before and after retiring to see if you're taking the appropriate steps is crucial. When we meet every six months, we can structure your retirement plans to help you manage risks in your portfolio, so that it has safety nets in place for market volatility.
Prioritizing Your Health
Your well-being in retirement extends beyond having a strong financial foundation. Focusing on a balanced diet, regular exercise, adequate sleep, and maintaining strong social connections are all vital for your overall health and happiness in this new phase of life.

Retirement is a process, and it's normal for feelings to evolve as you adjust. With careful preparation and a proactive approach, you could embrace this new beginning and turn your dreams into a fulfilling reality.
Let’s talk about the steps we could take together to bring your vision for retirement into reality.
